Gymba Active Board, designed and manufactured in Finland after extensive research, offers a new, healthier work experience, with the opportunity to work, stand and move at the same time.

Small board - big effect

Gymba makes you more active, as it has been designed to help you stand up the right way. Using the board is simple: Just place it under your feet and your weight balance improves significantly.

New 50-50 Working Day

We recommend that you use Gymba about half of the time that you spend at the workplace.

Studies Are On Gymba

As you stand and move on Gymba, you increase energy consumption, and the intervertebral discs get the oxygen they need, which means your back stays healthy while you work.

Activate Your Muscles

When moving your legs on GYMBA, this movement activates your muscles. At the same time you increase your energy consumption, your mid rift muscles will be actively working, your stomach gets smaller and you activate the muscles in your back, buttocks, thighs and even in your shins.

Why Gymba

Prolonged sitting is not good for our metabolism. It increases the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, fatty liver, cardiovascular diseases, selected cancers and premature death. Already breaking up sitting (e.g. every 30, 40 or 60 mins) is good for health. GYMBA provides an easy option to break up sitting.

Standing on a hard floor may easily cause pain in feet and lower extremities preventing us from standing. GYMBA provides a platform that is easier, smoother and more comfortable to stand on, making standing a more tempting option.

While sitting our energy consumption is close to the resting metabolic state (1-1.5 METs). Standing up is already more energy consuming (with 25-50%), and by using GYMBA one can potentially increase energy consumption even more, and for longer periods.

Constant and prolonged standing is not good for our physiology either, as it may reduce venous blood flow from the lower extremities, increasing the risk of varicose veins, oedema and thrombosis. GYMBA, by allowing natural movements in lower extremities while standing improves the muscular pump action and venous blood flow.

Perils of sitting down

Individuals with more acute or chronic back problems are known to benefit from small bodily movements and position changes, and they are recommended over plain rest. GYMBA provides an easy and safe way to help this. Many individuals with spinal problems have experienced reduction in back pain while using GYMBA.

Prolonged standing may cause strain and back and lower extremity muscle aches. Controlled improvement of core muscle strength is important for any disease of the spine. The two-dimensional movement of GYMBA has the potential to improve the motion and use of muscles in the whole back, but also in the hip area, and to improve the muscular core and hip control.

Static positions are never good, not even when standing. Using GYMBA functionality to its full potential by turning it in different positions GYMBA allows movement in various ways and directions. It also works as a leg support and provides stretching help.

An adjustable working desk alone does not necessarily increase time spent standing unless it feels good. GYMBA is a simple add-on tool next to the standing desk. For the health and good of the office worker!

Standing up for a longer time may not feel comfortable, especially in the beginning. As GYMBA is more convenient to stand on, it allows more prolonged and more comfortable standing sessions and can make an individual choose standing more often over sitting.

Poor muscular support of the mid torso and hips, and lower extremity muscle hypertension are often a cause for spinal structure overstrain (e.g. in muscles, joints, ligaments and intervertebral discs). Activating these muscles by GYMBA potentially improves blood circulation and metabolism in these structures reducing the risk of chronic back problems.

How To Use

When working at a standing desk, place Gymba under your feet and continue to work as normal. The board helps you to maintain a correct posture while standing without tiring out your back and feet. To achieve the optimum benefit, utilize the flexibility of Gymba to move your feet back and forth as well as side to side.

Stretching your back

Turn Gymba upside down and lie on it on your back. Take a few deep breaths and relax. While stretching, keep your shoulders back, your arms folded in front of you and avoid tilting your pelvis forward.

While lying on your back, bend your knees and place your feet on the floor. Tense your abdominal muscles while pressing the lower back slowly against the floor. Maintain for 10 seconds and relax slowly.

Bending your lower back

Starting position as above. Move your knees slowly from side to side while keeping your feet on the floor. Moving your knees lifts your pelvis off the floor and bends your lower back. Start with small movements until you establish how far you can bend your body.

Stretching your calves

Turn Gymba upside down and rise up on your toes 20 times. Move one foot further back, shift your weight to that foot, and rise up to your toes again. Repeat 20 times before changing feet.

Strengthening your ankles

Place Gymba on the floor and place your feet on the supports. Roll the board from side to side and let the flexible properties of the board to do the work. Keep moving for 1-3 minutes at a time.

Customer Says

I have been working in administration for over 25 years now and after sitting behind a desk working on computers all day, it has taken its toll on my posture resulting in severe neck, shoulders and back pain.

Thankfully I was recently able to upgrade my desk to a sit-stand workstation and upon doing so was also introduced to the Gymba by our ergonomic office furniture supplier. Not only has the Gymba helped relieve my neck and back pain, it has improved my posture, balance and energy throughout my work day.

I am a fairly active person who loves to keep moving and I find the Gymba perfect for this. I can feel and see the difference in my posture, and as a result my neck and back pain has been relieved. As an added bonus, I have also felt the benefits of using the Gymba to improve balance and as a light exercise tool.

Whilst moving back and forth and rocking and balancing side to side throughout the day my legs and core muscles are activated providing an easy and effective little workout. As an office worker, it’s hard to find a way to stay active and work at the same time , however I find the Gymba a great way to I get a bit of exercise into my working day. Best part of all ……. it’s easy to use and it’s fun!!
